A classic Kenyan coffee with bright citrus and berry flavours, and juicy acidity from one of the country’s best farmers cooperative societies.

The Thirikwa Farmers Cooperative Society (F.C.S.) is located near the slopes of Mt. Kenya where the volcanic soil is rich and fertile. Their membership is comprised of 1,553 smallholder farmers from the surrounding villages Githiru, Gituba and Mukure; almost half of these members are women. Together they harvest about 250 tons of cherry per season, hand-picking and delivering to Gakuyu'ini wet mill (locally known as ‘Factory’) for processing.

At Gakuyu'ini Factory the ripest cherries are separated before being pulped and processed using fresh water pumped from the River Kiri. The coffee is then dried on raised beds and delivered to the dry mill for secondary processing.

The bright citrus and berry flavours, and juicy acidity from Gakuyu'ini celebrates the classic Kenyan coffee profile that we so admire, and showcases one of the country’s best farmers cooperative societies.
