A vibrant microlot from the highest point of Finca La Esperanza near the Guatemala-Mexico border.
The Villatoros are a large family of dedicated coffee cultivators. In the high valley of western Huehuetenango, near the Guatemala-Mexico border, the hilly landscape is rich with award-winning lots from the family.
Aurelio Villatoro was born into coffee, and after dedicating himself to his studies and training as a mechanic, he returned to the family business at Finca La Esperanza where he has led coffee production since 1986.
In late March 2019 our Green Buyer, Chris was fortunate enough to spend some time cupping coffees with Aurelio at his family’s new bodega in Huehuetenango City. The Campamento Alto microlot, which is located at the highest point of Finca La Esperanza, was a clear standout, and we are excited to share this vibrant and creamy coffee with as many people as possible!
